After that, he did his Internship in General Surgery at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital – Columbia University and Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the King/Drew School of Medicine.
Dr. Brien is an honored professional who has won several Awards and Grants like: American Cancer Society Clinical Oncology Fellowship, Award number 92-156-2 (August 1, 1992 to August 1, 1993); Basic Science Faculty Teaching Award – Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of California – Irvine (2001); Orthopaedic Oncologic Cancer Research Cancer Research – Guenther Foundation Grant: $150,000 (1995); and Clinical Oncologic Support Grant – Las Madrecitas Guild, Musculoskeletal Tumor Service: $16,000 (1997).
Dr. Brien has authored numerous peer reviewed publications, book publications and articles. In addition to that, he has also given more than 100 Scientific presentations in the US as well internationally in countries such as Australia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Singapore and China.
