Dr. Cummings – a Technical Expert Witness, is a Principal consulting scientist and Biomedical Engineer. He specializes in analysis of accidents involving the nature of human injury, injury causation, visibility analysis, and analysis of injury severity consistent with the physics of the accident situation. He has qualified as an expert witness by both federal and state courts across the United States.
Dr. Cummings obtained his BS degree (Applied and Material Science with minors in Physics and Chemistry) from University of North Carolina in 1998. Furthermore, he got his Ph.D. degree (Biomedical Engineering) from University of North Carolina as well in 2001.
The current interests of Dr. Cummings lie in the fields of Trauma biomechanics, Accident reconstruction, Human factors, Injury mechanisms, Human kinematics, Vehicular accidents and Materials Science & Failure analysis.
Dr. Cummings has also attended a fair share of Conferences and Courses. These include but not limited to RESNA – Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America at Orlando (Florida) in 2000, 46th Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Annual Conference at Tempe (Arizona) in 2002, 48th Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Annual Conference in Key Biscayne (Florida) in 2004, Methodology and Techniques of Crash Data Retrieval, IPTM, in Jacksonville (Florida) in 2006 and 53rd Stapp Car Crash Conference on impact biomechanics and human injury tolerance, and crash injury protection at Savannah (Georgia) in 2009.
