Ashley Hawk Aiken, MD is a Radiology Expert Witness who is currently the Professor of Radiology and Imaging Sciences, and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Emory University School of Medicine Atlanta, Georgia. He is also the Attending Physician at Emory Healthcare at Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Aiken obtained her B.S. in Biology (Summa Cum Laude) from University of Georgia and M.D. (Phi Beta Kappa) from Medical College of Georgia. Furthermore, she did her Medicine Internship also at Medical College of Georgia. After that, she did a Radiology Residency and a Neuroradiology Fellowship at University of California in San Francisco.
Dr. Aiken’s major research interests include Head and Neck Cancer: surveillance imaging, accurate radiologic staging, standardized reporting and the clinical implications of staging and significance of current prognostic features on imaging. Past projects include: investigating the accuracy of staging oral cavity and oropharyngeal cancer, with a recent publication on lymph node extra nodal extension of tumor and extrinsic muscle invasion.
Dr. Aiken has created a recently published template (NI-RADS) for head and neck cancer surveillance imaging, and now co-chairs the American College of Radiology (ACR) Neck Imaging Reporting and Data System (NI-RADS) committee to validate the template for larger audiences, and now travels around the country to educate radiologists on best practice and foster multi-institutional research collaborations.
