Captain Mark S. Poster is a Boat Accident Reconstruction/Boat Safety Expert Witness who has been employed in the boating industry since 1985. He was the Lake Operations Supervisor for the Big Bear Lake Water District from 1996 to 2002. He was responsible for conducting incident investigations, recreation boating safety, enforcing boat laws, marina operations, in addition to many other duties.
Currently, Captain Poster is a Self Employed Boating Safety Consultant where he has performed vessel collision analysis and accident investigation and reconstruction. He has done about 100 boat crash accident reconstructions and thousands of cases. He has investigated accidents with single and multiple fatalities; collisions; sinkings; and operating under the influence.
Captain Poster was on the Board of Directors of the California Boating Safety Officers Association for 4 years and served as their President, Vice President, and Southern California Regional Director. He has taught Boating Safety Enforcement for the State of California and Peace Officers Standards (POST). He is US Coast Guard Auxiliary Operations Qualified and has been with them for more than 30 years.
Captain Poster investigated many accidents as a Lake Patrol Officer and Lake Operations Supervisor at Big Bear Lake. He was responsible for all the lake operations including enforcing boating laws, conducting accident & incident investigations, review & revision of local boating laws & department manuals, etc. He is a member of the International Association of Marine Investigators.
