Carolyn S. Calfee, MD, MAS – an Internal Medicine/Pulmonologist/Critical Care Expert Witness, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. She is currently an Associate Professor in Residence at UCSF, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Calfee received her BA in English (magna cum laude) from Yale University, New Haven in 1995 and MD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1999. She was an Intern, Resident, and Chief Resident of Internal Medicine, and a Fellow of Pulmonary/Critical Care, and Advanced Training in Clinical Research Program at the University of California – San Francisco.
Dr. Calfee also holds a Masters in Clinical Research from the UCSF. She has been an active volunteer for the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District as well as for the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and the Marin Municipal Water District. She gives presentations internationally, is a frequent manuscript reviewer, and serves on an editorial board, as well as being published herself.
The primary clinical activity of Dr. Calfee is to serve as the attending physician in the UCSF Moffitt-Long Intensive Care Unit for 6 to 7 weeks per year. During this time, she supervises the clinical care of patients with medical, surgical, and neurologic critical illness.
