Dr. Bakken is a Technical Expert Witness who has over 30 years of experience consulting for attorneys, insurance companies, businesses, etc. on systems safety. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1983, M.S. in Safety from Central Missouri State University in 1974 and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (Astronautical) from Arizona State University in 1969.
Dr. Bakken has also taught human factors/ergonomics and safety as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Arizona. He also states that he has qualified as a premise liability expert in several past matters, and he has worked on cases that involve department store displays. The most recent cases have involved mannequins falling over on people, and, similar to this case, a person was attempting to see a tag on a mannequin when a prong on the display caught the person in the eye.
Dr. Bakken has been a part of quite a few Researches and Projects which includes Workstation Ergonomic Assessment and Training at Walbro Engine Management in Tucson(2005), Work Accommodation Assessment at La Posada Healthcare in Green Valley(2006-2007) and COF Testing of self-adhesive substrates at Metromedia Technologies, Inc.(1998).
Dr. Bakken has had several publications as well which contains Falls and Related Injuries: Slips, Trips, Missteps and their Consequences(2002), Falls and Related Injuries: Slips, Trips, Missteps and their Consequences – 2nd Edition(2007) and Human Factors/Ergonomics in Litigation(1993) amongst others.
