Gregory Silver, M.Sc., P.E., G.E. – a Geotechnical Engineer Expert Witness, has over 30 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer. He is the President and Principal Engineer of GMU Geotechnical, Inc., a geotechnical company that completes approximately 150-250 soil investigations projects per year. Mr. Silver is the past president of CalGeo and a current member of the Forensic Expert Witness Association.
Mr. Silver did B.A. Geological Sciences (Geophysics) at the University of California, Santa Barbara and M.S. Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering) at California State University, Long Beach. He has previously worked at Bing Yen & Associates, Inc. and G.C. Masterman & Associates, Inc.
Mr. Silver has worked successfully for and with industrial, residential, and commercial developers, master community planners, and governmental agencies. He has extensive experience in landslide evaluation and remediation design, geotechnical instrumentation, residential and commercial development, public works projects, municipality consultation, mechanically stabilized earth walls, and forensic projects.
In addition, Mr. Silver has served as an expert witness in regards to numerous geotechnical issues over the last 20 years. Over the period of 1988 to 1997, Mr. Silver was City Geotechnical Engineer for numerous cities throughout Southern California. There are quite a few types of projects that are representative of Mr. Silver’s experience. Some of these are: Landslides, Residential Development Projects/Master Planned Communities, Commercial Development Projects, Water Resource Projects, Soil Nail Walls etc.
