Dr. Lazarus did an Internship at the Cook County Hospital and a Residency in Psychiatry at the Michael Reese Hospital Institute for Psychosomatic and Psychiatric Research and Training, both in Chicago.

Dr. Lazarus is a past Reviewer for the American Journal of Psychiatry and past Chairman of the Book Committee at the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry .
